The creator of one of the UK’s most renowned trucking companies has passed away at the age of 95, as confirmed by his family.
Eddie Pears Stobart passed on November 25, 2023, at the age of 95 after establishing his family-operated enterprise in 1946.
The agricultural venture initially focused on distributing fertilizers but shifted towards logistics, enabling them to possess over 2,700 vehicles and become dominant on UK roads.
Drivers of Stobart were recognized for wearing dress shirts and ties, often waving and honking their horns in response to friendly gestures.
The firm also chose to name each of their trucks after women, with names such as Maggie, Rosie, Karina, and even Angharad.
Prior to facing financial challenges in the 2000s, the company was estimated to be valued at over £100 million.
