Leeds United Team Update: Last-Minute Decisions with Numerous Fitness ‘Concerns’
Manager Daniel Farke will have to finalize his team in the morning before Saturday’s 12:30 pm kickoff.
“It’s a hectic week, marking the third match within seven days, and an early kickoff. As is often the case in these scenarios, we will need to make some early choices.
“For those players who participated, it was primarily about recovery sessions.
“Several players emerged from the last match with injuries, minor knocks, and various concerns.
“Take Max Wober, for instance. It was his first start in a long while—can he genuinely function after such an extended absence with three matches in seven days? I can’t definitively say yes since his knee was swollen.
“It has calmed down, and I am hopeful he can train today (Friday), but it will ultimately be a late call for him.
“The same situation applies to Sam Byram. He has just returned from an injury and experienced some cramping towards the end of the match (against Middlesbrough), but it has settled down. I am optimistic he will be available, but we must wait for the training session.
“Jayden Bogle is in a similar circumstance; he showed improvement, yet we will essentially use today’s session as a test.
“Numerous players are dealing with minor aches and bumps, so today will serve as a test for many of them.
“I hope all of them will be available aside from our long-term injuries, but we need to see who is truly prepared to start and who is fully fit before making any decisions.
“For me, the impression during training holds significant importance. We will gather data from our sports scientists regarding recovery status, yet it’s not merely about selecting the lineup based on medical reports. I take that into consideration along with my observations. Sometimes, you just have the sense that a player requires additional recovery time.
“By this evening, I should have a clearer picture, but I’ll also engage in discussions on the morning of the game to confirm my observations. You never can tell; occasionally, a player wakes up feeling under the weather.”
