A decapitated fox with a sex toy inserted into its rear was discovered on a street in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
The creature was stumbled upon by an individual along Springbank Road, a residential area approximately two miles from the town centre, on Wednesday.
‘Just witnessed a shocking scene at the top of Springbank Road opposite Henley Road,’ the astonished individual posted on social media.
‘Decapitated fox with a sex toy lodged within its rectum… How could anyone exhibit such cruelty?’
The user sought advice from the community regarding what actions to take, mentioning they had already contacted the animal welfare organization RSPCA but that the local office was not open.
Confronting the person responsible for the fox’s decapitation, they stated: ‘You are evidently in dire need of assistance to do this to an animal.’
In response to comments on the thread, the user noted that law enforcement is currently investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity.
‘Hoping that karma catches up with whoever is culpable,’ they added.
The police confirmed: ‘Police were summoned on Wednesday following reports of a deceased animal that had been disfigured and left in a public area.
‘Officers were alerted by a member of the public shortly after 4:30 PM regarding the partial remains of a fox found on Springbank Road.
‘They have since retrieved the animal and disposed of it appropriately.
‘Investigations are underway in the area, including an analysis of CCTV footage and door-to-door inquiries, to elucidate the circumstances leading to the fox’s discovery.’
