A well-known Indian actor has been detained following the tragic death of a woman during a stampede at the premiere of his newest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Allu Arjun, a renowned star within the Telugu cinema sector, commonly referred to as “Tollywood,” was present at the event in Hyderabad on December 4 when the unfortunate occurrence took place.
As supporters surged to greet the actor, a 39-year-old woman lost her life while her nine-year-old son sustained critical injuries.
This week, authorities apprehended the proprietor of the cinema where the event transpired.
On Friday, they took Arjun, aged 41, into custody at his residence.
A local court granted him bail just hours after his arrest, with his legal representatives indicating that he would be released from custody soon.
Arjun was mentioned in the initial police report, which claimed that his security personnel had attempted to disperse the crowd surrounding him, leading to the woman collapsing from breathlessness, as per a copy of the document reviewed by Reuters news agency.
Arjun’s legal advisors have contested any allegations of misconduct.

In a message posted on the X social media platform, the actor expressed that he was “deeply saddened” by the occurrence.
“My sincere condolences are extended to the mourning family during this incredibly challenging period,” he stated.
“While respecting their need for solitude to mourn, I am dedicated to providing any support possible to assist them in traversing this difficult journey.”
Arjun is a significant personality in the Telugu film sector, primarily located in the southern regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
A leading figure in the successful action franchise Pushpa, he ranks among its most significant stars.
He boasts multiple prestigious awards, maintains a following of 28 million on Instagram, and is recognized as one of the highest-earning actors in India.
