Approximately 70 firefighters are engaged in combating a fire at a school in Hackney Downs in London, as storm Darragh continues its assault.
The fire brigade was alerted to the blaze at the school on Downs Park Road at 9:08 AM today, deploying ten fire engines to the location.
According to the London Fire Brigade, a small section of the second floor is on fire.
A notice on the brigade’s website states: ‘One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders is currently being utilized at the scene as a water tower, assisting in fighting the fire from an elevated position.’
‘Control Officers received the first of nine notifications regarding the fire at 9:08 and dispatched crews from Homerton, Stoke Newington, Tottenham, and nearby fire stations to the scene.’
Today, the capital is facing winds exceeding 90mph, as Storm Darragh wreaks chaos throughout the nation.
