A young man has tragically lost his life, while another is currently battling for survival after an incident involving a motorcycle.
This unfortunate event occurred in Woodchurch, at the intersection of Hoole Road and Grass Wood Road, on Saturday, shortly before 6:30 PM.
Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene following reports indicating that two individuals had fallen from a motorcycle.
Upon their arrival, officers found that they were unable to assist one of the victims, a 17-year-old male, who was declared deceased at the scene.
The second victim, an 18-year-old, was transported to the hospital for urgent care. The motorcycle itself was missing, and authorities suspect that other youths may have concealed it.
It appears that no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Residents expressed their distress regarding the incident, with one man struggling to hold back tears as he recounted his experience to the Liverpool Echo: ‘I was walking around the corner when I heard a loud noise.
‘Initially, I thought it was a car accident. Then I saw them lying on the ground and rushed over to assist.’
He continued, ‘I have never witnessed anything like this. It is something I cannot forget.’
Another friend remarked, ‘It’s heartbreaking, truly. They were just kids, far too young for this to happen to them.’
Access to the area remains restricted, and drivers are urged to steer clear of the location at this time.
Merseyside Police are seeking any witnesses and CCTV footage that could help in their investigation.
Inspector Ian Cowell stated: ‘This is a devastating situation resulting in the loss of a young life; our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.
‘Another young man has sustained serious injuries and is presently in critical condition at the hospital.
‘A road closure is still enforced at the scene, and additional patrols are present in the vicinity to conduct preliminary inquiries and ascertain the exact circumstances of this incident.
‘We believe there were other males present at the time of the incident and we are actively trying to locate them for further information.
‘Upon arrival, the motorcycle involved in the incident had already been removed, and part of our investigation will focus on locating this vehicle.’
