This spells trouble for an extensive range of individuals within the US’s premier law enforcement agency and the Department of Justice, who have endeavored to scrutinize the president-elect over a variety of criminal allegations, now either dismissed or suspended due to the prohibition against prosecuting a sitting president.
Patel, at 40 years old, refers to these individuals as “government gangsters,” the title of a book he’s authored regarding what he considers to be Deep State corruption at the very core of the agency he is set to lead, and beyond.

“We will seek out the conspirators. Not merely within the government, but also in the media,” he stated to Trump’s former advisor Steve Bannon during his War Room podcast exactly one year ago. “We will pursue you, whether through criminal or civil means.”
Indeed, Patel’s appointment necessitates Senate validation. However, the authority he will wield to investigate and exert pressure on any individuals he deems appropriate upon taking office may instill a certain apprehension in the decision-making of individual senators.
He appears determined to overhaul the FBI. The impact this may have on national security remains uncertain.
Regarding the Kushner family, the familial ties continue to yield benefits. Donald Trump’s notification that his son-in-law’s father Charles Kushner is to be appointed as US ambassador to France places a man who was sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion and witness tampering in a significant diplomatic position.
Trump granted clemency to Kushner senior at the conclusion of his last term, but this carries a dubious narrative and is a contentious selection.
It seems the president-elect is unfazed by this. Especially when it concerns friends, family, or indeed, simply a Floridian affiliation that many of his selections appear to share.
