Tragic Footage Reveals Disturbing Incident Involving Pregnant Woman in Remote Woods

This is the haunting moment when a man led his pregnant mistress into the forest to commit murder.

CCTV footage captures Filmon Andmichaen, 31, parking his white Toyota Yaris alongside the roadway in Ladywood, Birmingham, before he and Liwam Bereket emerge from the vehicle and proceed toward a nearby wooded region.

This marked the final appearance of Ms. Bereket alive.

Approximately 15 minutes later, the footage reveals Andmichaen returning to the automobile by himself and then departing.

Two hours afterward, he contacted the authorities and admitted to stabbing the 26-year-old, alleging it was an accident.

Investigating officers discovered Ms. Bereket had sustained fatal stab wounds to her neck. Despite displaying some signs of life, both she and her unborn child succumbed at the location.

Following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Andmichaen was convicted of murder and was sentenced earlier this week to a minimum of 27 years in prison.

Andmichaen, residing on Haddon Road in Great Barr, was married to a woman who had moved from Uganda to reside with him and had children when he initiated a relationship with Ms. Bereket.

Upon discovering her pregnancy, he insisted she undergo an abortion, yet she declined.

On August 1, 2023, while she was six months into her pregnancy and eagerly anticipating motherhood, Andmichaen ‘took matters into his own hands,’ the court detailed.

Following the stabbing, he returned home and disclosed to his brother that he had assailed a woman before ultimately contacting the authorities.

Despite telling law enforcement that he had not intended to kill Ms. Bereket, evidence presented to the jury indicated he had taken extensive steps to prevent her from summoning help, including seizing her phone, which was subsequently discovered in the trunk of his vehicle.

In the aftermath of the murder, witnesses reported to the police that they had previously observed Andmichaen attacking Ms. Bereket in public.

Acquaintances of Ms. Bereket further characterized his behavior towards her as ‘abusive and aggressive.’

Judge Mr. Justice Choudhury expressed his firm belief that Andmichaen had indeed planned to end both Ms. Bereket’s life and that of her unborn child.

Following the sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector Jim Colclough from the West Midlands Police’s Homicide Unit remarked: ‘It is utterly heartbreaking that a young woman, who was excited about becoming a mother, met her demise in such a brutal manner.’

‘This was an exceptionally distressing investigation for my team, yet they have remained committed to achieving justice for Liwam and her family.

‘Andmichaen has exhibited no remorse for his actions and has caused further anguish to Liwam’s family by subjecting them to a trial.

‘Andmichaen’s actions led to the tragic demise of Liwam and her unborn baby girl. I hope the outcome today provides her family with some solace in knowing that the individual responsible for their daughter’s and her baby’s deaths will endure a lengthy prison sentence.’

‘Violence against women and girls is intolerable and will not be overlooked. We recognize that there is still much work to be done, and it remains a high priority for us.

‘We will continue collaborating with our partners to ensure that all individuals feel secure in the West Midlands.’

In a statement delivered to the court, Ms. Bereket’s family expressed that the loss of their daughter and sister ‘shattered our lives in ways that are beyond words.’

They conveyed: ‘She was not solely a daughter and sister, but a radiant soul brimming with life, laughter, and love. She brought happiness to everyone around her and possessed a kind-hearted and compassionate nature.’

‘We are eternally altered and tormented by the persistent question of why this transpired. Each day we have sat in contemplation, seeking answers to why he committed this dreadful act.’
