Homicide investigators have disseminated a CCTV snapshot of a woman they wish to interview following a deadly hit-and-run involving an electric bicycle in Derbyshire.
Alana Armstrong, a 25-year-old mother of one, lost her life at the scene in the village of Pleasley on Tuesday evening.
According to authorities, she was a passenger when the e-bike was struck by a dark-colored 4×4, believed to be a Land Rover Discovery.
She was declared dead at the scene, while the operator of the e-bike, a man in his twenties, sustained critical injuries and underwent an amputation below the knee.
A CCTV still has been released featuring a woman whom police believe “holds crucial information pertaining to the murder of Alana Armstrong.”
The woman was captured outside The White Swan public house, located in Meden Square, Pleasley, shortly before 8pm.
Authorities, who have initiated a murder inquiry, reported that the collision transpired around 8pm on Batley Lane in the same village, which lies near the boundary of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
A 4×4 vehicle trailed two e-bikes before colliding with one, subsequently fleeing the scene.
Chief Superintendent Dave Kirby from Derbyshire police stated that Ms. Armstrong, who resided in nearby Tibshelf, was a parent to a six-year-old son.
“Her young son, along with her extended family, will never have the opportunity to see her again, embrace her again, celebrate Christmas together, or commemorate all those significant milestones,” he remarked.
Authorities also disclosed the route the vehicle took through the village.
Investigators noted that the Land Rover Discovery had pursued two e-bikes prior to the incident.
It subsequently drove along Batley Lane, onto Rowthorne Lane, with its last known sighting at this junction, turning right onto the A617 towards New Houghton.

Chief Superintendent Kirby also made a plea for information: “We are aware that two individuals were in the Land Rover Discovery, manufactured between 2004 and 2009… a male operating the vehicle and another individual seated in the passenger seat.
“Since Tuesday, a dedicated team of detectives has been tirelessly investigating, examining the site where Alana was killed, conducting door-to-door inquiries, and reviewing CCTV footage in the region.
“We have already gathered a considerable amount of information from the public. I am confident that more information exists – and there are individuals who know who the perpetrator is.”
Two individuals apprehended in connection with the event have since been released without charges and are no longer considered part of the investigation.
