Coleen Rooney, McFly vocalist Danny Jones, and boxer Barry McGuigan are among the celebrities gearing up to enter the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, as confirmed by producers.
After extensive speculation regarding the cast for the upcoming series, the stars have finally been revealed with less than a week remaining until the show’s debut.
N-Dubz vocalist and former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos, Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, and Strictly Come Dancing sensation Oti Mabuse are also set to participate in the adventure.
Rooney, spouse of ex-Manchester United and England football player Wayne Rooney, has become a notable figure for I’m A Celebrity in light of her widely publicized legal dispute with Rebekah Vardy, who previously participated in the series in 2017.
The “Wagatha Christie” saga commenced in 2019, when Rooney alleged that information about her private matters was being leaked to tabloids through Vardy’s Instagram account, in a viral social media post. The legal proceedings culminated with a trial at the High Court in 2022, which concluded that Rooney’s post was “substantially true”.
Currently, the mother of four has expressed her optimism that her participation in the popular ITV reality series will provide viewers “a clearer understanding of the type of person I am”.
She mentioned that she has received requests “year after year” to become part of the show, but until now, her response had consistently been “an outright no”.
Nevertheless, she has reconsidered, as her four sons have grown older, allowing her the opportunity to “be away for this duration”.
Wayne ‘supportive’ of her jungle venture
The 38-year-old stated that Wayne and her family have been “extremely supportive” of her decision to enter the jungle in Australia, and that her husband is “comfortable” with her being filmed continuously.
“My parents are also pleased that I am doing something for myself,” she noted.
Besides her friends and family, Rooney mentioned that the aspect she will miss the most is her phone – along with a notepad and pen, as she enjoys “writing things down”.
