A 12-year-old girl tragically lost her life due to a falling tree branch this past weekend, and has been commemorated in photos.
The Metropolitan Police reported on Saturday that the child, referred to as Brooke by a family member, passed away after being hit by the branch in Surrey.
Billy Etherington identified Brooke and shared an image of her, describing her as “a brilliant light in our lives” in a crowdfunding campaign initiated to assist her mother with burial expenses.
The GoFundMe page states: “On Saturday, November 9th, our family’s existence changed forever when we lost our beloved Brooke to a heartbreaking accident.
“A mother has lost her daughter, a brother has lost his big sister, and a family has lost a radiant light in our lives that can never be replaced.”

A Facebook page established in honor of Brooke by the same relative indicates there will be a gathering on Wednesday “to release lanterns and balloons in celebration of her 13th birthday.”
Emergency responders were summoned shortly after 4pm on Saturday following the incident in Grove Place, close to the intersection with Carshalton Road, Banstead.
“The incident is currently not regarded as suspicious; however, investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated when the news first broke.
A report will be prepared for the coroner in due course, they further noted.
