Authorities are in search of an individual who menaced a man with a crossbow and is possibly connected to two earlier assaults.
The victim was strolling down Alfred Street in Bow, eastern London, between noon and 12:30 PM on Monday, October 21, when he was confronted by a different man.
This man grew verbally hostile before threatening him with a crossbow. Subsequently, he fled the scene.
The victim felt ‘shaken’ but was unharmed during the occurrence, stated the Metropolitan Police.
The police have disseminated a CCTV photo of a man they wish to interview regarding this matter.
Detective Inspector Nikki Hardy from Central East BCU remarked: ‘We encourage everyone to examine the image and consider if they recognize him or have any information about his whereabouts.’
In the course of their investigation, detectives are exploring potential links between this incident and two crossbow-related shootings in east London in March of this year, keeping their options open.
Both assaults took place in Shoreditch. In one incident, a 44-year-old was struck in the head on Club Row, while the other left a 20-year-old man with a neck injury after being struck by a crossbow dart in Arnold Circus several days thereafter.
It is believed that their injuries were neither life-threatening nor life-altering, yet the assaults instilled fear within the community, making many hesitant to venture outside.
The Metropolitan Police has encouraged anyone with knowledge about the recent incident or the CCTV image to contact 101 and provide the reference 245/31OCT.
Information can also be relayed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
