A former Hollywood actor, previously incarcerated for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, is currently sought by law enforcement for violating his parole terms.
The heavily inked Jason Hoganson, aged 53, is believed to be ‘actively avoiding capture’ as he is being pursued by Northumbria Police for a return to prison.
Hoganson was seen on September 10, smiling and giving a thumbs up as he exited Durham Prison, just three weeks into an 18-month sentence for the assault on his former partner.
The following day, he was again in police custody after being apprehended in Newcastle’s West End, facing accusations of assault and two counts of violating a restraining order.
A notable performer in the 1987 Hollywood film Empire State, Hoganson is the subject of a public appeal for information regarding his whereabouts.
Northumbria Police stated: ‘It is suspected that Hoganson is actively evading arrest and could be located anywhere within our jurisdiction or in County Durham.
‘Anyone who spots Hoganson should avoid approaching him and should instead reach out to us immediately. Please note that assisting a wanted individual is a criminal offense, and those complicit could face legal action.’
Having completed the majority of his 18-month sentence in custody, Hoganson was automatically released upon reaching the halfway mark.
This release coincided with the early release of 1,750 prisoners as part of an emergency governmental initiative aimed at alleviating prison overcrowding.
At that time, Hoganson’s brother Michael confirmed that the release date had been known for some time and that he had not been granted an early release.
After being detained again and appearing in court, Hoganson pleaded not guilty to the assault charge and one of the breaching a restraining order charges but acknowledged the other.
He was scheduled to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on October 30 for the trial.
Northumbria Police have not disclosed how Hoganson came to be released on license.
Metro has reached out to the Ministry of Justice for clarification.
Anyone with knowledge regarding Hoganson’s location is encouraged to contact Northumbria Police via a direct message on social media, utilize the live chat function on their website or call 101 without delay, quoting log number NP-20241031-1343.
