Authorities examining historical allegations of sexual misconduct involving Russell Brand have submitted a dossier of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), it has been reported.
A statement from the Metropolitan Police indicated: “Following an inquiry by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times in September 2023, the Met received numerous reports of sexual offenses from women in London and other regions of the country.
“A collection of evidence has now been referred to the CPS for their assessment.
“As part of the inquiry, a man in his 40s has been questioned by officers under caution on three distinct occasions.
“These questioning sessions pertained to several historical sexual offenses that are claimed to have occurred both inside and outside London.
“Officers will continue to assist the CPS as part of their ongoing investigation.”
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is overseeing the inquiry, stated: “We have a dedicated team of officers providing specialized support to the women who have come forward.
“We are unwavering in our commitment to investigating sexual offenses, regardless of how long ago the incidents are purported to have occurred.”
Brand has refuted the allegations leveled against him, asserting that his relationships were “always consensual”.
