A 40-year-old female and an eight-year-old child have tragically been discovered deceased within a residence in Salford.
The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reported that they were summoned to South Radford Street shortly after 10:30 AM due to concerns regarding the well-being of individuals at the location.
“Officers responded, with support from North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. Sadly, both the 40-year-old woman and the eight-year-old girl were found deceased in the premises,” said the police force.
All known relatives have been notified and are receiving support from specialized officers.
Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles of GMP’s Salford district stated: “A woman and a young girl were found deceased, and our team is diligently working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this incident today.”
“Although we are not currently pursuing any additional suspects in connection with this case, I recognize that the news of their passing and the significant presence of police and emergency services at the scene may understandably raise concerns among residents and those further away in Greater Manchester.”
“I would like to reassure the public that we believe this to be a singular event, with no broader risk to the community.”
A spokesperson for Salford City Council remarked: “We have acknowledged the profoundly saddening news this morning, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those who have tragically perished.”
“We are collaborating closely with GMP to assist them in their ongoing investigation, and our teams will ensure support for local residents and council staff who have undoubtedly been impacted by today’s events.”
A perimeter has been established at the location.
