The ensemble cast of Gavin & Stacey has said goodbye to Barry as shooting in the town comes to a close.
The sitcom, which initially broadcast from 2007 to 2010 and featured a Christmas Special in 2019, is set to return for a concluding episode this Christmas.
The narrative centers on the romantic journey of Essex lad Gavin Shipman (Matthew Horne) and Stacey West (Joanna Page), who resides in the South Wales community where most of the filming occurs.
In a video clip posted on social media, co-creator Ruth Jones addressed the fans who had assembled to observe the shooting on Trinity Street, acknowledging their “patience”.
“You haven’t witnessed much because we’ve been inside, which highlights that you are truly devoted fans of the series,” she remarked.
“And we sincerely hope you won’t feel let down on Christmas Day when everything will be unveiled.”
Jones expressed that this marked the cast’s “farewell to Barry and to Trinity Street”.
“You won’t be seeing us around here any longer, but we’ve cherished a remarkable 17 years. It’s been incredible,” she noted.
James Corden, a co-writer for the series with Jones, expressed gratitude to the onlookers: “Thank you all for your support, we will see you shortly”.
They were accompanied by fellow cast members Page, Rob Brydon, Melanie Walters, and Robert Wilford.
The series features additional stars, including Horne, Alison Steadman, and Larry Lamb.
