A United Airlines passenger aircraft was obliged to make an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was en route from Chicago, USA, to Frankfurt in Germany when it encountered difficulties.
The aircraft’s captain transmitted a squawk code of 7700, indicating a general emergency on board.
Flight monitoring data displayed that UA907 was flying at approximately 5,438 feet when the emergency incident transpired.
It was rerouted to London Gatwick just before 8:30 AM UK time.
A fire truck was stationed at the runway when the aircraft touched down and taxied to the terminal, as reported by AirLive.
The flight was initially scheduled to reach Frankfurt shortly prior to 10 AM local time.
The emergency squawk ensures that the flight is given precedence over other aircraft—allowing pilots the freedom to take necessary actions for safety, as explained by Flightradar24.

On Tuesday, a British Airways flight from Heathrow to Budapest returned to the airport following an emergency declaration.
This was due to a suspected water leak in the front galley of the Airbus shortly after departure.
