Manchester Airport’s newly developed Terminal 2 will incorporate a well-known pub franchise as the terminal’s plans are disclosed.
The second phase of the airport’s £1.3 billion redevelopment is projected to be finalized next year – and JD Wetherspoon has been confirmed as one of the establishments to be launched there.
The ‘Spoons will join other prominent retail names like Chanel, Pandora, and LEGO, all already confirmed to open in the new Terminal 2.
The designation of the new Wetherspoon remains unannounced, but the airport has stated it will ‘reflect the sporting legends of the north in its interior design.’
Additionally, other food and beverage venues already affirmed for Terminal 2 include Upper Crust, Starbucks, WHSmith’s Grindsmith Cafe, and Greggs.
A significant highlight of the new terminal will be the Great Northern Market – a 472-seat food hall showcasing the remarkable street food culture of Manchester, with various cuisines and vendors rotating regularly.
The local dessert establishment Gooey is anticipated to secure a permanent space there.
Richard Jackson, the airport’s retail director, shared with the MEN: ‘We take pride in the top-notch amenities available in Terminal 2, and an essential component of our vision for the completed terminal is to offer an unmatched experience for travelers shopping and dining before their flights.
‘We’re thrilled to present such a diverse selection in the second phase of our brand-new Terminal 2, combining local businesses with renowned high street brands and options for every budget.’
‘We’ve put significant effort into ensuring the presence of exciting, classic brands such as Chanel and Pandora at the airport, alongside Fever-Tree launching a standout cocktail bar and our very own LEGO store – while also ensuring travelers have the familiar brands they cherish in an airport setting, such as Wetherspoon and Greggs.’
‘Moreover, our Great Northern Market will be a one-of-a-kind offering at the airport – enabling guests to relish the popular “market hall” dining experience with a variety of individual street food-style pop-ups centered around a communal dining area.
‘It will allow groups to eat together while having the freedom to choose from a wide array of diverse menus.’
