A man in his sixties has passed away after being struck by a police vehicle that was responding to an urgent situation.
The pedestrian was impacted on the B4113 Coventry Road in Nuneaton at approximately 8:45 PM on Friday, according to a statement from Warwickshire Police.
He sustained a grave head injury and, despite the attempts of on-site paramedics, he succumbed at the location, the statement indicated.
Neither of the officers inside the vehicle sustained injuries in the incident that occurred between Gipsy Lane and the Griff roundabout.
Authorities are seeking witnesses and the demise has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), who have initiated an investigation, as is standard procedure when an individual dies following police involvement.
The relatives of the deceased have been notified, and the police stated: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man during this difficult time.”

Warwickshire Police are urging anyone who witnessed the event or possesses dashcam footage to reach out to them.
An IOPC spokesperson reported that investigators have been dispatched to the scene and attended the police post-incident procedure “to begin collecting information and initial accounts from the officers involved”.
The IOPC further stated: “Our condolences are with the family of the deceased and all those impacted by this unfortunate occurrence.”
