A young individual has been detained on suspicion of homicide after three individuals tragically lost their lives in an apartment in Luton, according to law enforcement officials.
A weapon was retrieved following the incident in Leabank, adjacent to Wauluds Bank Drive, on Friday morning, as stated by Bedfordshire Police.
Authorities responded at approximately 5.30am after being alerted about concerns for the welfare of individuals within the apartment.
Three individuals were discovered with injuries, but unfortunately, all were pronounced dead on the scene, according to police reports.
An 18-year-old male was apprehended on Bramingham Road shortly afterwards and is currently in police custody.
Bedfordshire Police confirmed that a firearm had been confiscated on Bramingham Road, adding that they believe all parties involved in the incident were “acquainted with one another.”
The police department also expressed that they do not believe there is any threat to the wider public. Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy stated that “at this point, we are not searching for any other individuals.”
He noted that the three individuals discovered “had sustained severe injuries” and “were subsequently confirmed deceased at the scene.”
An inquiry is being conducted by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.
Detective Superintendent Rob Hall remarked: “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the three individuals who have perished in this tragic and alarming occurrence.”
