The Repair Shop host Jay Blades has been accused of controlling and coercive conduct against his separated spouse.
The purported actions encompass both physical and emotional abuse, as per court records.
The 54-year-old made an appearance at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court and was granted bail until another court session later next month.
Blades wed fitness trainer Lisa Zbozen in November 2022 in Barbados; however, in May she expressed feeling “broken” after she took a bag containing her belongings and left their residence.
According to West Mercia Police, he was charged on Thursday after officers were dispatched to a location on May 3, the day following Ms. Zbozen’s Instagram post, which prompted an investigation.
Blades, a furniture conservationist, is the prominent figure of the esteemed BBC program, which showcases individuals restoring and revamping cherished items.
The Repair Shop first premiered in 2017 and its 14th season is anticipated later this year.
Blades’ additional television projects include Britain’s Best Beach Huts and David and Jay’s Touring Tool Shed, alongside Sir David Jason.
The BBC has indicated that a rerun of the latter program was removed from the schedule for Friday.
The presenter was raised by his mother in a public housing estate in Hackney, east London, according to his personal website.
