Sir Brian May has disclosed that he recently endured a “minor stroke,” which led to a temporary loss of control over his left arm.
The 77-year-old Queen guitarist shared this information in a video on social media, reassuring his fans that he has regained the ability to play guitar.
Sir Brian mentioned that he was swiftly taken to the hospital with “blue lights flashing and everything,” after experiencing a loss of normal sensation in his arm about a week ago.
The musician had previously endured a heart attack in 2020.
‘It was a bit frightening’
Discussing his recent health concern, he stated: “I’m here to provide you with, first and foremost, some positive news, I believe. The good news is that I can still play guitar following the events of the last few days.”
“I mention this because there was some uncertainty, as the little health setback that I referred to occurred about a week ago – classified as a minor stroke. Suddenly, unexpectedly, I lost all control over this arm. It was somewhat alarming, I must admit.”
Sir Brian expressed gratitude for “the most outstanding care and attention” he received at Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, Surrey.
“Blue lights flashing, the whole works,” he shared in the video. “Very thrilling. I might share a video if you’d like.”
