A pregnant woman has tragically lost her child after reportedly being assaulted by two schoolboys while she awaited a bus in Edinburgh.
It has been reported that she was sitting on a bench in Tranent, East Lothian, around 6:20 PM on Friday when ‘two high school students’ pushed her to the ground before fleeing the scene.
The following day, her husband hurried her to the hospital after she began experiencing ‘bleeding and intense, unbearable pain’.
It was soon confirmed that she had suffered a miscarriage while hospitalized.
In a social media update on Tuesday, the heartbroken husband stated: ‘I want to provide everyone with an update regarding my wife’s health.
‘It is with great sorrow that I inform the community that my wife has experienced a miscarriage, a loss of pregnancy, and she is still receiving treatment in the hospital.
‘This has been an extremely traumatic and devastating experience for both of us, particularly for my wife and children.
‘I implore everyone to please take a moment to speak with their children or younger relatives.
‘Instill in them the values of respect and appropriate conduct in public spaces. Good manners must be taught and nurtured at home.’
Before the devastating event, the husband had shared: ‘Two high school students dressed in black uniforms (one in shorts and the other in trousers) pushed my pregnant wife while she was at the bus stop around 6:20 PM on the high street, waiting for the bus.
‘She even offered them a seat and was courteous to them, yet they responded rudely. My wife was injured and expressed her anger, informing them of her pregnancy. They apologized and then ran off. Is there any CCTV footage available in that area?’
On Saturday afternoon, he added: ‘Just an update regarding my post from last night; my wife is currently bleeding and is in extreme and unbearable pain.
‘We are waiting for the ambulance to arrive. This is a call for justice.’
In response to the incident, a Police Scotland spokesperson commented: ‘We have received a report of an assault on High Street, Tranent, that occurred on Friday, 30 August. Investigations are ongoing.’
