An elderly individual has been detained on allegations of murder following the passing of a woman, authorities have reported.
First responders were summoned after receiving notifications about a woman who had sustained severe injuries at a residence on Fairfield Road in Cheltenham at approximately 3:30 AM on Saturday.
Gloucestershire Police confirmed that a 66-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the location.
A 77-year-old man from Cheltenham has been taken into custody and is currently under police detention as investigations proceed.

A representative from the police stated: “A scene guard is currently established at the property while law enforcement remains present at the site.
“Members of the major crime investigation unit are in the preliminary phase of their inquiries and are encouraging anyone with relevant information to step forward.”
