Halifax – The community is mourning the tragic loss of Troy Hardy, an 18-year-old motorcyclist who died in a devastating accident on Thursday afternoon. Troy, described as a “vibrant and loving” young man with an “infectious smile,” was involved in a crash while riding his white Hanway motorcycle on A629 Ovenden Road near Shroggs Road.
West Yorkshire Police responded to the scene shortly before 4 p.m. on August 29, but despite their efforts, Troy’s life could not be saved.
Friends and family have taken to social media to express their shock and grief over his untimely passing. Keely Mitchell, a close friend, initiated a fundraiser on JustGiving, raising over £4,000 to assist with funeral expenses. In her heartfelt message, she reflected on the “unimaginable loss” and the overwhelming sorrow those who knew him felt.
“Troy had only just turned 18. He was vibrant and loving and touched the lives of everyone around him,” she wrote. “He was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need, and his infectious smile and kind heart will forever be etched in our memories. As we navigate through this painful time, we face the daunting task of arranging a funeral and honouring Troy’s life—giving him the send-off he deserves.”
Tributes continue to pour in on social media. Patsy Barraclough remembered Troy with a poignant message: “Rip Troy Hardy, fly high. We will all miss you. Forever 18.”
Matt Toulmin also shared his sorrow, stating, “R.I.P Troy Hardy. I will miss you and your infectious smile, always bringing joy to everyone everywhere you go. I’m glad I had the pleasure of meeting you; I will always remember our laughs. Forever 18.”
