Donald Trump has issued a warning of potential imprisonment for Mark Zuckerberg if the Facebook creator engages in “any unlawful” activities aimed at manipulating the forthcoming presidential election.
The former president articulated this assertion in his latest publication, titled Save America, which compiles images and stories from his presidential campaigns and time in office.
Beside a snapshot of his encounter with Mr. Zuckerberg in the White House, Mr. Trump expressed: “He would attend dinners with his lovely wife, presenting himself as cordial as anyone could be, all while devising a disgraceful scheme to implant Lock Boxes in a genuine PLOT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT.”
This comment pertains to the over $400 million (£303 million) that Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan Zuckerberg, contributed to electoral offices in 2020.
The contributions predominantly favored Democratic-leaning areas across certain states—partly due to Republican leaders dismissing the funds, as Mr. Trump cautioned against financially supporting election offices that could subsequently promote mail-in voting amidst the coronavirus outbreak.
Trump and his allies have consistently attributed the donations as a factor contributing to his defeat in 2020.
“We are monitoring him closely,” Mr. Trump noted in his new publication, “and should he engage in any illegal activities this time, he will face a lifetime in prison—along with others who deceive during the 2024 Presidential Election.”
Mr. Trump’s latest coffee table book also encompasses images of him alongside international leaders, such as North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and former German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
Moreover, it presents photographs of the large crowds he frequently boasts about that assembled in Washington D.C. to listen to his address prior to the January 6 assault on the Capitol in 2021.
Meta, the rebranded corporation of Zuckerberg, has not yet issued a statement regarding the book.
