A man has tragically lost his life, and a child has been left with life-altering injuries following a collision in West Devon.
The devastating incident occurred close to Tavistock, north of Plymouth, just before 1 pm yesterday.
A 46-year-old man from the area was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene.
His passing resulted from a collision involving a Vauxhall Astra and a Kia Rio at Iron Railings Cross on an unnamed road near Tavistock.
The man was a front-seat passenger in the Kia. Authorities have informed his next of kin.
Others sustained severe injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Four individuals were admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.
Among them is a young child who suffered life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is now underway concerning the fatal incident, with police urging witnesses to step forward.
The road remained closed until late last night when it was reopened at 12:30 am today.
A man in his 30s from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of causing death through dangerous driving, as well as for serious injury caused by careless driving.
He has been released on bail as investigations continue, as confirmed by Cornwall and Devon Police.
