15-Year-Old Boy in Custody on Suspicion of Attempted Murder
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a double stabbing incident in Sheffield. The attack occurred on Monday, August 26, in the Darnall area of the city.
South Yorkshire Police were called to Ribston Mews at 7:25 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault. Upon arrival, officers discovered two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, who had sustained severe injuries believed to be stab wounds. Both victims were rushed to the hospital, where their injuries were determined to be severe but not life-threatening.
In connection with the incident, a 15-year-old boy has been taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder. Police have cordoned off the area around Ribston Mews, and a scene remains in place as investigators continue their inquiries.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police provided a statement: “We received a call yesterday (August 26) at 7:25 p.m. from the ambulance service reporting an assault on Ribston Mews in Sheffield. Two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after suffering suspected stab wounds. One boy, aged 15, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody. A scene remains in place while officers conduct their enquiries.”
Sheffield Detective Superintendent Nikki Leach addressed the community’s concerns, stating, “We want to reassure our communities that we are treating this as an isolated incident. We are working swiftly to identify those involved and understand the circumstances surrounding this attack.”
Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward, asking them to reference incident number 756 of August 26, 2024.
