Liam Gallagher stirs speculation regarding an Oasis comeback, stating on X: “I never did fancy that term FORMER.”
Industry experts are convinced that next summer will herald the resurgence of the most prominent band in Brit-pop. They revealed to the Sunday Times that Wembley Stadium has been reserved for ten nights, surpassing Taylor Swift’s recent eight-concert record.
When The Times posted about it, Liam seemed to affirm that performances were in the pipeline, responding to a user on X: “See you down the front”.
Glastonbury also hopes to tempt the feuding brothers to the pyramid stage, offering them a headline opportunity—if they choose to seize it.
This would mark the first occasion the duo has shared a stage since 2009. Backstage in Paris, Liam inflicted damage on one of his elder brother’s guitars, prompting Noel to depart dramatically, concluding a partnership that propelled them to fame and prosperity.
“It is with some sorrow and immense relief…I sever ties with Oasis tonight,” Noel later declared. “People will write and say what they will, but I simply could not continue collaborating with Liam a moment longer.”
The other band members persisted for an additional five years under the moniker Beady Eye, and Liam has since experienced success with his group, especially during his latest tour, which featured performances of songs from Oasis’s inaugural album, Definitely Maybe, released in 1994.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds boasts a substantial following and has recently topped festivals, including the Isle of Wight.
However, persuading Noel to return to Glastonbury could prove challenging. Although he frequently attends as a fan and was present this year, he claims the festival has transformed in recent years.
He remarked: ‘It’s becoming somewhat woke now, that venue, and a bit preachy and a touch of virtue-signalling. I’m not fond of it in music—little f***ing idiots waving flags and making political gestures while bands take the stage to announce, ‘Hey folks, isn’t war dreadful? Let’s all boo at war. F*** the Tories, man’, and all that.
“It’s like, come on – play your f***ing music and then leave.”
Sky News has reached out to representatives for both Noel and Liam.
