An outburst of a volcano in Iceland has resulted in the evacuation of nearby residences.
Witness red-hot magma shooting up from the ground in the Reykjanes Peninsula.
This marks the sixth occurrence of an eruption in this area within the last eight months.
Since late last year, the town of Grindavik has been largely deserted after residents were initially instructed to vacate.
Subsequent to the latest eruption, the remaining inhabitants have been advised to depart.
The renowned Blue Lagoon geothermal spa has been shuttered, and the Svartsengi region has also been cleared out.
There is presently no disruption to flights.
“The commencement of an eruption has been confirmed. Efforts are currently underway to determine the precise location of the activity,” stated Iceland’s meteorological office.
