The chief executive of the company responsible for creating and selling vessels like Mike Lynch’s troubled superyacht claims that they are “unsinkable”.
Giovanni Costantino, the CEO of The Italian Sea Group, assured Sky News that there are no flaws in the design and construction of the Bayesian superyacht that overturned in a storm near Porticello, Sicily, on Monday.
Five individuals were discovered by divers on Wednesday, bringing the confirmed death toll to six.
The Italian Sea Group is also the parent company of the organization that built the Bayesian for British technology mogul Mr. Lynch, and Mr. Costantino affirmed that these vessels are “the most secure imaginable”.
“As the manufacturer of Perini boats, I am very acquainted with how these boats have always been meticulously designed and constructed,” he stated.
“Since Perini is a sailing vessel… sailing ships are acknowledged as the most secure vessels ever.”
He emphasized that their configuration and keel render them “bodies that cannot sink”.

Mr. Costantino expressed his feelings of sadness and disbelief upon hearing about the yacht’s sinking.
“This incident seems like an incredible tale, both technically and in reality,” he remarked.
Reports indicate that Italian prosecutors probing the incident are still conducting interviews with the survivors.
The captain was questioned for over two hours on Tuesday to aid in reconstructing the sequence of events and providing valuable technical insights.
Four British inspectors are present in Porticello and have initiated a preliminary evaluation of the situation.
They are expected to assess all pertinent aspects of the incident, including the design, stability, and operation of the vessel, as well as the impact of the prevailing weather conditions.
A total of twenty-two individuals were on board the yacht, with fifteen being rescued – including British citizen Charlotte Golunski and her one-year-old daughter Sofia.
Divers will resume their operations on Thursday morning to retrieve a body they discovered earlier. One person still remains unaccounted for.
