A 43-year-old woman has passed away, and a 17-year-old girl is in critical condition following a stabbing incident.
The triple stabbing occurred on Barnard Road, in the Gorton vicinity of Manchester, at 11.20pm last night.
Another individual, a 64-year-old man, is presently hospitalized with life-threatening wounds.
All three individuals were discovered with severe stab injuries at the premises, where the 43-year-old woman tragically lost her life.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of murder and is now in custody.
A police presence remains at the scene, and it is believed that the perpetrator had acquaintanceship with the victims, suggesting this is an isolated incident.
According to Detective Superintendent Toby Facey: ‘ The local community, as well as the wider community of Greater Manchester, will understandably be shocked and worried upon waking up to this tragic news this morning.
‘Our sympathies are with those impacted and their families during this challenging period. We are providing them with all the support we can.
‘Upon receiving the report, our officers swiftly arrived at the scene and made an arrest.
‘An inquiry is now underway, and we are in the early stages of our investigations. Detectives have been working diligently throughout the night to unravel the details of this event.
‘Local law enforcement will continue to conduct inquiries in the area, with an increased presence of patrols. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to approach them.
‘We urge anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Additionally, individuals who were near Barnard Road at approximately 11 pm and have dashcam footage are encouraged to assist us in reconstructing the sequence of events.’
