According to authorities, a bomb explosion in Tel Aviv has resulted in the death of one individual.
Reports of the explosion on Lahi Street prompted Israeli police to respond at around 8pm local time (6pm UK time).
“A bomb explosion has been verified,” stated a police spokesperson.
The spokesperson continued, saying, “Following the blast, one person has been killed – their identity remains unknown – and another individual has sustained moderate injuries.
“A thorough investigation is currently underway.”
The injured person was swiftly transported to the hospital for medical attention, the spokesperson confirmed.
Although graphic images claiming to depict the immediate aftermath of the explosion have circulated on social media, their authenticity has not been confirmed.
Other images show debris scattered in the streets and emergency responders on the scene.

A gathering took place in Hostages Square over the weekend, with thousands assembled to demand the release of captives still held by Hamas in Gaza.
Families of the remaining captives are urging for the resignation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concerning the ongoing hostage situation.
Former Israeli PM Ehud Barak has called for the impeachment of Mr. Netanyahu over the hostages, stating on X: “His disregard for the law in such circumstances justifies impeachment. unfit!”
Additionally, casualties were reported following Israeli airstrikes in Gaza and Lebanon during the weekend while ceasefire discussions are ongoing.
