The Home Office has reported that close to 500 migrants made their way across the Channel in small boats on Saturday.
Recent data indicates that a total of 492 individuals crossed in a fleet of nine boats following a week that witnessed a surge in these voyages.
Of the total, 107 migrants arrived on Wednesday, 125 on Monday, and 703 on the previous Sunday as disclosed by the figures available.
Generally, an increase in boat crossings is observed during periods of calm weather, and there has been a decrease in Channel winds during this timeframe.
According to a recent Ipsos poll released on Friday, immigration has now become the foremost concern for the British populace – a position not held since 2016.
