In northeastern France, a collision between two warplanes resulted in the tragic deaths of two aviators. The incident occurred during a training exercise in the Vosges region near Colombey-les-Belles, as reported by the defense ministry.
While executing a combat maneuver, the two Rafale aircraft piloted by an instructor and a trainee crashed, leading to the fatalities of Captain Sebastien Mabire and Lieutenant Matthis Laurens. President Emmanuel Macron conveyed his condolences, stating, “The nation mourns alongside the families and comrades at Air Base 113 in Saint-Dizier.”
Fortunately, the pilot of the second jet was able to eject and sustained only minor injuries.
