Five children and a woman were shot with air rifles in Sheffield Street.
Five children and a woman have been rushed to hospital after being shot in Sheffield. Police were called to Richmond Park Avenue on Wednesday (August 14) to reports of the shooting at around 2.23 pm.
Police said ‘unknown individuals’ began firing an air rifle on the street before four boys, aged seven, 11, 13 and 15, a seven-year-old girl and a woman, 62, were injured and left with gunshot wounds.
Three of the children were rushed to hospital to have a pellet removed from their bodies. The area was taped off, and South Yorkshire Police launched a major investigation.
Officers attended the scene and arrested five people – a 15-year-old girl, two boys aged 15 and 16, and two 18-year-old men – on suspicion of possession of a firearm and GBH. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “A scene was established at an address on Richmond Park Avenue, and officers are investigating. We are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the alleged shooting or has information that could help with enquiries to get in touch.”

A total of six individuals sustained injuries in the incident, comprising five minors and a 62-year-old female.
