Visitors and patients travelling to Doncaster Royal Infirmary are advised to prepare for potential disruptions as roadworks are set to begin near the hospital. Starting this weekend, resurfacing work on Thorne Road will lead to road closures and diversions, affecting traffic flow in the area.
A spokesperson for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust issued a statement urging people to plan their journeys accordingly. “Please plan ahead when visiting Doncaster Royal Infirmary,” they said. “Starting this week on Sunday, 18 August, Doncaster Council will begin works to resurface Thorne Road with closures and diversions implemented.”
The planned works will cause the complete closure of the Wentworth Road/Thorne Road/Armthorpe Road junction on Sunday, 18 August, and Sunday, 25 August, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Additionally, Thorne Road will face partial closures in stages until Sunday, 1 September.
“Diversions will be in place throughout the project,” the spokesperson added. “Please be aware that this may cause longer journey times, so please plan ahead when visiting Doncaster Royal Infirmary.”
Visitors are encouraged to visit the Doncaster Council website for further details and updates on the roadworks.
