Doncaster, August 12 – Two boys were detained after a dramatic police pursuit involving a dangerously ridden off-road motorcycle in the Carcroft area late Friday night.
The incident began at 11:18 p.m. on August 11, when officers from the Roads Policing Group spotted a motorcycle being driven erratically on Chestnut Avenue. Despite being signalled to stop, the rider refused to comply, leading officers on a persistent pursuit through the residential streets. This demonstrated their dedication to maintaining law and order.
The motorcycle carrying a pillion passenger mounted kerbs and sped through parkland to evade capture. The chase concluded when officers located the riders near shrubland in a local park.
The police recovered the bike, which had no MOT or insurance. Two boys, aged 12 and 15, were detained on suspicion of driving offences.
Sergeant Kelly Ward of Doncaster North Neighbourhood Policing Team commented on the incident, stating, “We will not tolerate antisocial behaviour in our local areas, and it is fortunate no civilians were injured as a result of this reckless riding. The bike has been seized with two individuals detained, and we hope this sends a clear message that nuisance and dangerous riders of motorcycles and off-road bikes are not welcome in our communities.”
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the dangers posed by the illegal and reckless use of off-road bikes in residential areas. Local authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling such behaviour and ensuring public safety.
