Doncaster, August 11 — A 31-year-old woman was hospitalized on Sunday morning after a car collided with railings in Doncaster before the driver fled the scene. The incident occurred at approximately 8:52 a.m. on Bawtry Road, near the junction with Rose Hill Rise.
According to police reports, a black Vauxhall Astra veered off the road and struck the railings, resulting in injuries to the pedestrian. Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene, and the injured woman was transported to the hospital for treatment. Her injuries, while significant, are not believed to be life-altering.
Following the collision, the vehicle’s driver reportedly left the scene, prompting a police investigation. Bawtry Road was temporarily closed to traffic this morning (Monday) but has since been reopened.
In connection with the incident, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault but has been released without charge. Police have stated that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about the collision to come forward.
