CCTV Footage Released After Man Seen Hitting Dog Outside Huddersfield Shop
Huddersfield, July 24 — The RSPCA has launched an appeal for information following a disturbing incident in Huddersfield where a man was seen repeatedly hitting a sizeable grey dog outside a local shop. The incident, which occurred outside the OneStop on Broad Lane in the Moldgreen area, took place at around 12:20 p.m.
According to reports, the man struck the dog several times in the stomach in front of multiple witnesses before taking the animal around the corner and continuing the assault. The RSPCA urgently seeks to speak to the individual about this shocking event.
CCTV footage released by the RSPCA shows a man wearing a “distinctive orange puffer jacket,” whom investigators believe may have crucial information regarding the incident. The charity asks anyone who has been in the area or recognizes the man to come forward.
RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Ollie Wilkes, who is leading the investigation, said, “A number of witnesses reported seeing the dog—a grey-coloured large breed—being struck by a man several times in the stomach area in front of the shop before he was allegedly taken around the corner and beaten further.”
Wilkes emphasized the importance of gathering more information to assist the investigation, stating, “We have some CCTV that shows part of the incident, but we’re keen to hear from anyone else who may have been in the area at the time and may have seen what happened. We’d also like to speak to a man who was in the local area at the time, dressed in dark shorts and a distinctive orange puffer body warmer, as we believe he may have information that could help our enquiries.”
The RSPCA urges anyone with information to contact their inspector appeal line at 0300 123 8018, quoting reference 1293406. The charity is determined to ensure the dog’s safety and well-being and hold the responsible individual accountable.
