A prompt search has been initiated for a British traveler who has gone overboard from a cruise liner.
Croatian authorities have verified that a ‘young Brit’ disappeared from the Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas cruise ship this morning and has not been spotted since.
Multiple vessels have joined in the quest, and passengers were roused by an urgent message reverberating throughout the cruise.
Nicole Bullock shared online: ‘Awakened on the cruise ship around 3:40 am to the emergency alert ‘Oscar Oscar Oscar off the port side.’ Man overboard.
‘Have been observing the rescue operations from my balcony all day, hoping for a positive result.’
A search and rescue mission is currently underway on the isle of Jabuka.
The ship is reportedly operating on a seven-day voyage from Greece to Croatia commencing on August 3.
Metro has reached out to Royal Caribbean for a statement.
In March a Scottish vacationer lost his life after plunging overboard from a cruise ship.
Liam Jones, aged 23, was last sighted on the deck of the MSC Euribia on March 16 as it departed from Southampton towards Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
It has been disclosed that Liam messaged his wife Sophia Mcphee mentioning he was feeling seasick that very day – and that was the final communication his grief-stricken spouse received.
Sophia informed the Daily Record that she last saw her husband on March 14 when he journeyed from their residence to Glasgow to meet his family.
She stated: ‘I feel so disoriented. He’s simply… vanished. I won’t see him again. I’m shattered.
‘I have countless questions, and no one is providing any explanations about what has occurred.’
