The general public has been cautioned not to confront a man sought in connection with the killing of a bus operator in London this week.
Derek Neil Thomas, 53, was fatally stabbed on Northwold Road, Hackney, while heading home from work at approximately 11pm on Tuesday.
Authorities have identified Kamar Williams, a 33-year-old from the Isle of Dogs, as an individual they wish to have a conversation with.
The public has been advised to immediately dial 999 if they spot him.
Yesterday, a 30-year-old woman was apprehended on suspicion of aiding a criminal.
Mr. Thomas, from Stoke Newington, allegedly completed his shift steering the 106 bus when he sustained a fatal stab wound to the torso.
Fellow workers at the Northumberland Park garage in Tottenham characterized him as a ‘true gentleman’.
A communication from Tom Joyner, Managing Director of Go-Ahead London as seen on MyLondon remarked: ‘I am deeply saddened to inform you that yesterday evening, one of our team members – bus driver Derek Thomas, was fatally hurt in an isolated event in Stoke Newington in London.
‘I can confirm that this occurrence did not take place while the driver was on duty. I want to assure each one of you that your well-being is our top priority – whether you are at our depots, on our buses, or on your commutes to and from work.
‘We will collaborate with the Metropolitan Police to comprehend the circumstances of this dreadful incident. At present, due to the ongoing police enquiry into the occurrence, I am unable to disclose more specifics about the incident itself.
‘Our sympathies go out to our comrade and their loved ones, and we will provide them – as well as all of you – with any needed assistance during this challenging period.’’
Following the homicide, Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway declared: ‘I recognize the astonishment and distress this occurrence will evoke, especially considering the recent tragic killing of Pharrell Garcia last week.
‘Nonetheless, I want to assure the populace that a squad of proficient detectives is already industriously working to pinpoint whoever is liable for this violent deed.
