Details of the Incident
An individual has been formally accused regarding a hit-and-run incident that led to the tragic death of a pedestrian.
The victim, named William Brown, aged 81, was crossing Bathgate Road in Blackburn utilizing a walking aid when he was hit by a motorcycle at approximately 7.15pm on 12 July.
Mr. Brown, also known as Bill and hailing from the town of West Lothian, was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh following the collision but unfortunately passed away on 16 July.
Arrest and Charges
Providing an update on the case, Police Scotland announced on Tuesday that a 38-year-old man had been taken into custody and formally charged in connection with the aforementioned incident.
The suspect has since been released pending a scheduled court appearance at a later date.
Family Statement
Earlier, a statement was issued by Mr. Brown’s family through the authorities, expressing their profound grief over the loss of Bill, who had formerly worked as a janitor at St Kentigern’s Academy.
“Bill was a devoted family man who held a significant presence within the local community, where he was well-respected,” the family’s statement read.
