A young Irish girl, aged 11, has tragically lost her life after falling from a hotel balcony in Majorca.
Identified locally as Clodagh Phelan from Co Wicklow, the incident has deeply saddened the community.
According to a spokesperson for the Civil Guard on the Spanish island, the incident occurred when the girl’s parents were asleep on Sunday night.
An individual at the hotel reported the emergency the following morning upon discovering her body.
The Department of Foreign Affairs stated that they are aware of the situation and are offering consular support, with Spanish authorities launching an investigation into the matter.
The Taoiseach Simon Harris expressed his condolences, stating: “It is heartbreaking to learn about the tragic passing of Clodagh Phelan.
“So much potential and charisma taken away in a terrible accident.
“My thoughts go out to her family and community during this truly distressing period.”

Clodagh, a member of Parnell Athletics Club Juveniles, was described by the club as a “beautiful, energetic child and a talented athlete”.
A Facebook statement from the club read: “Parnell AC is deeply saddened to announce the tragic passing of Clodagh Phelan, one of our young athletes and a friend to many others.
“Clodagh sadly lost her life following a mishap during her holiday.
“She was a lovely, energetic child and an outstanding athlete who excelled in various sports, not just athletics.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family Valerie, Liam, Will, and David, as well as the extended family, during this challenging time.”
