According to sources in US law enforcement, a remote fireworks detonator was discovered with the individual who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump.
After opening fire on the former president, Thomas Crooks was shot dead by the Secret Service, and the authorities found a grey 12-button remote control next to his phone.
This device is believed to be connected to what the FBI described as a “rudimentary” explosive device located in his vehicle.
It is speculated that the detonator was meant to serve as a diversion or to cause harm to law enforcement rather than to create a major explosion.

During an event in Butler, Pennsylvania, 20-year-old Crooks managed to graze Mr. Trump’s ear with one of his shots while the ex-president was addressing his supporters.
Investigators are delving into Crooks’ background to determine his motive for the attempted assassination, which experts consider a serious security breach.
The shooter was able to secure a strategic position on a roof approximately 130 meters away, and warnings from individuals who sighted him seemed to have been neglected or not treated with sufficient urgency.
Crooks drove to the venue and parked at a gas station about 0.3 miles away after purchasing 50 rounds of ammunition from a local firearm store.
Despite searches of his devices and residence, his motivation remains a mystery.
Insights from the Secret Service
According to NBC News, officials from the US Secret Service briefed politicians about the incident on Wednesday.
During the briefing, it was revealed that the Secret Service had identified Crooks about 10 minutes before Mr. Trump’s appearance on stage, with a 20-minute gap between his identification and the shots he fired.
From the moment Crooks was first identified as a suspicious individual to the time of the shooting, just over an hour had passed.
It was also disclosed that Crooks had surveyed the rally site several days prior to the attack.
Despite interviewing over 200 individuals and examining Crooks’ mobile phone, FBI Director Wray stated that there is currently no established motive or foreign ties.
Crooks had minimal presence on social media and used encrypted communication.
‘Unusual but not threatening’
No strong political beliefs have been uncovered, and those acquainted with him portrayed him as a loner who was excluded from the school rifle team due to poor marksmanship.
Nevertheless, he managed to join a local shooting club through his family and reportedly visited the club the day before the attack to practice.
“He was a peculiar individual, but there was nothing about him that seemed dangerous,” stated former classmate Liam Campbell.
“Just an average person who appeared to be averse to socializing with others.”
