The iconic figure of Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed, Shannen Doherty, has sadly left us at the age of 53.
She battled breast cancer since 2015, and in February 2020, she revealed the devastating news of its return at stage four.
Despite undergoing treatment and having a brain tumor removed, the disease eventually spread to her bones.
Leslie Sloane, Doherty’s publicist, confirmed the heartbreaking news to Sky News, stating that she passed away on July 13 after a long fight against cancer.
“Shannen Doherty, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, departed while surrounded by loved ones and her loyal companion, Bowie,” said Leslie Sloane.
Doherty, who rose to fame with roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Heathers, became best known for her portrayal of Brenda in 90210, which she left in 1994.
Brenda, a character struggling to adapt to the elite society of LA, became a remarkable part of Doherty’s legacy.
She also starred in another hit series, Charmed, under producer Aaron Spelling’s guidance, facing challenges behind the scenes.
Nevertheless, she was remembered as the ‘bad girl’ of the 90s and often found herself in disputes with colleagues and supervisors, tarnishing her on-set reputation.
In a podcast, she admitted to past reckless behavior, attributing it to youthful exuberance, and expressed remorse for her actions.
Over time, she learned the importance of diplomacy and effective communication.
Although her journey in the entertainment industry was tumultuous, her talent and spirit left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
In both personal and professional spheres, she always strived to make a difference.
