An officer from the Metropolitan Police responsible for overseeing high-ranking members of the royal family has reportedly resumed duty despite facing accusations of domestic and sexual abuse by his wife.
The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, lodged complaints against him for engaging in aggressive sexual acts, physically assaulting her, and subjecting her to psychological maltreatment over the course of their decade-long marriage.
This led to his suspension earlier in the year, and the officer is expected to be interrogated regarding these charges, according to a report by the Mail on Sunday.
Expressing her dismay, she revealed her astonishment upon learning that the officer, who she described as ‘a threat to women,’ has now rejoined duty.
The woman recounted that the abuse was a recurring aspect of their relationship, even as he progressed through the ranks to become responsible for safeguarding members of the Royal Family.
She claimed he coerced her into violent sexual activities, leaving her feeling incapable of declining out of fear of provoking him.
‘He consumed alcohol excessively, reaching a point where he would turn violent towards me,’ she stated.
On one occasion, the officer purportedly assaulted her in the shower after a night out.
Recalling the incident, she stated, ‘He seized me by the neck and shouted, “never embarrass me again,” before striking me across the face with such force that I saw stars.’
His control extended to dictating her attire and movements. She mentioned, ‘I had to seek his approval for everything and he had to accompany me everywhere and pick me up.’
Moreover, he purportedly made threats towards the woman’s sons from a previous marriage, particularly targeting her eldest child.
She recounted, ‘He would threaten to physically harm him.’
The woman first reported her husband in 2021, following their separation in 2020. However, the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to pursue the case.
She lodged a subsequent report in September last year, this time for stalking incidents. Law enforcement officials encouraged her to bring forth fresh claims of sexual misconduct and physical abuse.
Despite his suspension, the officer resumed work this June, prompting her to escalate the matter to the authorities once more.
The Metropolitan Police stated, ‘In May, we were informed by another jurisdiction of an accusation involving an officer attached to the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command.
‘An inquiry is currently being conducted by Nottinghamshire Police. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards is apprised of the situation.
‘The officer has been assigned to restricted duties.’
