Following a protest by Just Stop Oil activists, two women have been charged with criminal damage and other offenses for spraying private jets with orange paint at Stansted Airport.
Due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday are Jennifer Kowalski, 28, and Cole Macdonald, 22, accused of causing more than £5,000 worth of damage.
Essex Police reported that officers intervened in an incident within the airport’s private area where two individuals gained unauthorized access and damaged two aircraft.
On receiving a call around 5 am, police responded promptly, arresting the suspects within nine minutes of the incident.
Kowalski, hailing from Dumbarton, and Macdonald, residing in Brighton, are facing charges of criminal damage exceeding £5,000, aggravated trespass, and interfering with national infrastructure.
Essex Police clarified that the private jet of pop star Taylor Swift, alleged to have landed shortly before the incident, was not present at the airport during the protest.
The activists managed to access the airfield and painted two private jets using fire extinguishers filled with orange paint, as stated by the environmental group.
Stansted Airport and its flight operations proceeded without disruption on the day of the incident.
