Duke and Duchess Celebrate 25th Anniversary
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with the release of a new portrait.
Prince Edward and his wife Sophie appeared in a casual photograph taken in the gardens of their residence, Bagshot Park in Surrey.
Edward and Sophie tied the knot in a continental-style evening ceremony at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on June 19, 1999, where guests were advised not to wear hats.
Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest son expressed before the wedding: ‘We find humor in things most of the time, and our love for each other is the most important aspect.’
Romance blossomed when Edward and PR professional Sophie met at a real tennis event in the early 1990s.
They are now parents to two children, 20-year-old Lady Louise Windsor and James, the Earl of Wessex, who is 16 years old.
