Scooter Braun Steps Down as Music Manager to Prioritize Family
After 23 years as a music manager to high-profile celebrities like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, music mogul Scooter Braun has decided to step back from the industry to focus on his children, whom he refers to as “superstars.”
In a heartfelt statement posted on Instagram, Braun revealed that he had been contemplating this decision for some time and it finally became a reality last summer. The 42-year-old made the choice to step aside when one of his close clients expressed a desire to explore new directions, although the specific client was not disclosed.
Last year, reports emerged that Braun had parted ways with several of his prominent clients, including Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, signaling a shift in his career.
Braun reflected on his 23-year career, starting as a young manager at the age of 19 in Atlanta, GA. He acknowledged the incredible journey he has experienced, but with his children growing older and personal challenges arising, he realized that his priority was his family.
Aside from managing his clients, Braun has accumulated a substantial fortune through his business ventures, representing major names like Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and The Kid Laroi. However, his leadership faced scrutiny in 2019 when a dispute with Taylor Swift arose over the ownership of her first six albums.
Although the ownership rights have since changed hands following a deal with investment firm Shamrock Capital, Taylor Swift has embarked on re-recording her music to reclaim control, known as “Taylor’s Versions.” Besides focusing on his family, Braun will be dedicating his time to his roles as a board member of Hybe and CEO of Hybe America, a South Korean entertainment company.
